I get a virus warning after downloading
We have received messages in the past from customers who got a virus warning from their anti-virus software. We take these very seriously.
Fortunately, every alarming message so far has been a false positive. Most false positives have disappeared over time.
How we test for virus warnings before releasing an update
We upload every update to https://virustotal.com so our installer gets checked by 70+ virus engines.
Results for recent updates
- Version 2.9.4 zero hits
- Version 2.9.3 zero hits
- Version 2.9.2 zero hits
- Version 2.9.1: zero hits
- Version 2.9: zero hits
- Version 2.8.4: two hits
A hit does not mean there is a virus in our software, for three reasons:
- Nearly every hit we see is for a different kind of malware.
- Vendors use a more aggressive engine for VirusTotal than they do in their products.
- The hits usually disappear over time, once the vendor runs a more thorough analysis.
Why Windows shows a warning when you download an update
Starting in April 2026, Windows has started showing a warning when you download one of our installer files. Every new installer has to earn reputation before the warning goes away; this takes an unspecified number of downloads and installs. We used to circumvent this by purchasing an expensive certificate, but this approach no longer works.
So if you get this warning and you don’t trust the file, make sure the installer is signed by CAD Booster B.V. first. Right-click the installer > Properties > Digital Signatures. You can also scan the file with your anti-virus software or upload it to VirusTotal.

To download the file anyway:
- Click the three dots > Keep
- Click the arrow on the right side of the Delete button > Keep anyway
If you want to help us fight this nonsense, please click Report this file as safe.
