Engineers spend way too much time importing and exporting files.<\/p>\n

So, I made exporting smarter and easier with this update for Drew (we already made importing smarter<\/a>).<\/p>\n

Plus a dozen other improvements.<\/p>\n

What is Drew?\"\"<\/h3>\n

Drew is our drawing automation add-in for SOLIDWORKS.<\/p>\n

SOLIDWORKS hasn\u2019t really improved the drawing tools over the last few years, so we decided to improve them ourselves.<\/p>\n

We let you capture your company preferences in software so you can create and edit 2D drawings\u00a0twice as fast<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

We have just released another update for Drew: version 3.2.<\/p>\n

Create an export in one click (and use custom properties in the path)<\/h3>\n

Drew could already create exports in one click. But the exports weren’t smart. We would overwrite existing files and you could not use a custom property in the file name. So we made improvements:<\/p>\n

  1. Store your export preferences in each blueprint<\/a>.<\/li>\n
  2. Use variables to build a path:\n
      \n
    1. The current directory.<\/li>\n
    2. The current filename.<\/li>\n
    3. The date and\/or time, formatted as you like.<\/li>\n
    4. The name of the current configuration (for parts and assemblies) or the current sheet (for drawings).<\/li>\n
    5. The value of a custom property.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n
    6. Store for which model types Drew should show export buttons.\n
