Which SOLIDWORKS versions are supported?

Drew runs on SOLIDWORKS 2019 and newer. We have tested Drew with every version of SOLIDWORKS, from 2019 to 2024. We cannot download older SOLIDWORKS versions anymore, so we cannot test with those.

What happens when I start up an older version of SOLIDWORKS?

When you install an add-in, it loads in every SOLIDWORKS version you have installed. That’s why Drew checks the SOLIDWORKS version when it starts up.

Drew only continues loading when it detects SOLIDWORKS 2019 or newer.

What happens when I start up a newer version of SOLIDWORKS?

If a new version of SOLIDWORKS comes out, Drew just continues working without needing an update.

The add-in may show up in the list of Other add-ins until we update it, but it runs perfectly fine. For a few years, SOLIDWORKS Connected would not load newer add-ins, but we got the CEO to reverse this decision after our blog post about 3DExperience 💪
