How to use the built-in thumbnail images

In step 5 of the settings, use the third column to choose one of the 60+ built-in thumbnails.

How to use your own thumbnail images

First, create a thumbnail image and save it next to your fasteners. If you use “ISO 1234” for the name of your standard in Lightning, call the file “ISO 1234.png”. Other image extensions are also supported.

Now, select Get from part folder from the thumbnail dropdown. If we find your file, we show it in the Result column. If not, make sure the image is at the right location.

Remarks

  • Supported file extensions: PNG, JPG, JPEG, BMP.
  • The recommended image size is 120×120 pixels.
  • If you have a folder per material, each of these folders needs to have a copy of the thumbnail file. This is because Lightning looks in the folder that contains the part file.
  • If PDM requires filenames to be unique, add a suffix that consists of a dash and a number. Example: “-2”.
