Rotate weldment views automatically

Our goal with Drew is to automate as many of the simple drawing tasks as possible. Rotating weldment bodies is definitely one of them.

AutoRotate finds the best view rotation

When you enable AutoRotate, Drew rotates the main view for straight weldment bodies.

For landscape paper sizes, Drew lays the main view horizontally, so that the side view shows the profile.

We can also add outer dimensions and even the angle dimensions if the ends are not straight.

For portrait sizes, Drew rotates the main view so it’s vertical. The top view then shows the profile.

AutoRotate is enabled by default for a new Blueprint. You can turn it off in the settings in the Body Sheets tab:
